In 2016, Olives New Zealand and AGMARDT were pleased to announce the winners in the 2016 New Zealand Extra Virgin Olive Oil Awards at the Awards Dinner held at Parliament – Grand Hall on Saturday 15th October.
In 2015, there were 60 entries in New Zealand’s most prestigious competition for extra virgin olive oil.
The Awards judging was carried out at the Food Bowl specialist food/beverage laboratory in Auckland from 22nd to 24th September.
The judging panel comprises six trained and experienced international and New Zealand olive oil tasters.
The Head Judge was Peter Olson from Australia, complemented by international guest judge Himeyo Nagatomo from Japan, Margi Kirkby from Australia and Charlotte Connoley, Ed Scott and Hilary Fenemor from New Zealand. All of the judges are formally trained olive oil tasters & very experienced as judges.
